On a distant planet, a genetic weapon named Stitch is created. Stitch is basically the ultimate havoc-wreaker. True to his reputation, Stitch escapes his creators and crash lands on planet Earth on the island of Hawaii. He is mistaken for a dog and is sent to the pound, where he meets Lilo. Lilo is a young girl with a troubled home life. She's being raised by her older sister Nani, and their strained relationship is about to be severed by a hard-nosed social worker. Against her sister's objections, Lilo takes Stitch home as her new pet. Both teach the other the true meaning of 'ohana,' which is Hawaiian for 'family'. Though he causes a lot of chaos and makes a mess everywhere he goes, Stitch proves to hold the family together.
