One morning Arthur Dent (Simon Jones) discovers from his friend Ford Prefect (David Dixon), who turns out to be an alien surprisingly, that Earth is about to be destroyed. Prefect helps Arthur escape the destruction and they soon become Hitchhikers through the galaxy. The journey is long strange and perilous and includes encounters with the Vogons, giant fat beastly aliens with a love of poetry. Along the way they also encounter Zaphod Beeblebrox (Mark Wing-Davey) and Trillian (Sandra Dickinson) who save them from certain death floating through space. Before long they find themselves embroiled in a great galactic attempt to understand the meaning of life, and to escape the end of the universe at the Restaurant at the End of the Universe.
