“Love Potion No.9” sees biochemist Paul Matthews (Tate Donovan) who is something of a geek with zero luck with women. One night when a carnival comes to town he’s persuaded by his friends to visit the gypsy, Madame Ruth (Anne Bancroft). It is here Ruth gives Paul a secret elixir called ‘Love Potion No. 8’, a mysterious aphrodisiac that makes anyone of the opposite sex fall in love with the user. Studies prove it to have no effects. So Tate and his friend Diane Farrow (Sandra Bullock) begin a lengthy scientific research of the potion, which easily gets out of hand.
