Young, honeymooning bride Linnet Ridgeway Doyle (Lois Chiles) is found shot to death in her cabin and the suspects abound. Her former best friend, Jacqueline de Bellefort (Mia Farrow), who was once in love with Linnet’s new husband, Simon Doyle (Simon MacCorkindale), has followed the couple to Egypt. Did she kill Linnet out of jealousy? Or could it have been Linnet’s new husband? Did he marry her only for her money? What about Linnet’s American lawyer, Andrew Pennington (George Kennedy) who has been embezzling money from her family? Or perhaps the writer, Salome Otterbourne (Angela Lansbury), herself facing a libel lawsuit courtesy of Linnet? Circumstances are further compounded by the murders first of Linnet’s maid, Louise Bourget (Jane Birkin), who appeared to have been attempting to blackmail the killer, and then of Mrs. Otterbourne, who seemed ready to name Louise’s killer. Can Poirot unwrap the truth behind the crimes before someone else is killed? |
