This is the fourth installment of the Herbie series. Pete Stancheck (Stephen W. Burns) inherited the little VW from his uncle but he must to Mexico to pick it up. He takes his friend Davy D.J. Jones (Charles Martin Smith) where they end up meeting Paco (Joaquin Garay III) who hitches a ride in Herbie to avoid some people he's in trouble with. On the trip home on a boat, they meet Melissa (Elyssa Davalos) and her aunt Louise (Cloris Leachman). Unfortunately the car with it's own personality cause havoc and trouble for the ship's captain (Harvey Korman) Between all the adventures Paco takes him on and his own personality can Herbie ever find a garage to call home?
