Fantasia is an animated feature-length film comprised of a series of vignettes set to classical music scores. The vignettes range from juvenilia such as ballet dancing hippopotamus and alligators, to more somber pieces such as a candlelight procession through the twilit woods. Each segment has its individual theme, whether the natural beauty of winter, or the battle between good and evil. One of the set pieces of this film, often rescreened in other contexts, is the Sorcerer’s Apprentice vignette, featuring Mickey Mouse. The overarching connection between these elements is the classical music soundtrack which continues through the entire film, and lends coherence to the individual vignettes.
