Dr John Dolittle (Rex Harrison) is a bit eccentric, but his human patients think he is insane. Although he is a general practitioner for people, his love of animals and ability to understand them leads him to set up a veterinarian clinic. In speaking with them, he learns of the Giant Pink Sea Snail. When he is arrested for setting a seal free from a zoo and accused of murder because someone thought he was dumping a body in the sea his friends Emma Fairfax (Samantha Eggar) and Matthew Mugg (Anthony Newley) set him free. Emma sticks a pin in a spinning globe and the set off to that location in hopes of finding the rare snail. Along the way they meet a rumored, but undiscovered before Push-Me-Pull-You as well as the remarkable Giant Moon Moth.
